Understand That Having Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder Is Mental Disorder Issue Not A Personal Character Issue.


OCD is an anxiety disorder that affects millions of people around the world. Some people never realized in their life time that what they have is OCD.

Normally, people with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder are forced by their brain to think of something that they really reluctant to do. These actions are called obsessions and a person with OCD are forced to do repetitive behaviors that the person feels driven to perform in response to an obsession, or according to rules that must be applied rigidly.

For example, thinking of sex during a religious session . The person with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder does not want such thoughts during a religious session. The thoughts that comes during that time causes tremendous mental stress and anguish as it leads to the person thinking that he or she has committed a big sin.

The harder the person tries to suppress the thoughts, the worst it will become. If a person never realized that whatever actions or thoughts he or she is having is actually due to Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, it will make the person very weak and depressed forever. Only self realization that having OCD is a mental disorder caused by a medical condition and it has nothing to do with the actual character of the person can make a OCD sufferer to feel good of himself or herself.

Unfortunately, many people around the world are living with this condition without seeking any help professionally or attempt to do any OCD Self Help to ease their problem . The first step in dealing with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder is to understand and realize that the conditions that they have is actually Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.

The sufferers of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder normally think that they are crazy or even worst that they are a satan. It will be best if these sufferers take the first step by going to the internet with typical behaviors that they display as they might not know the term OCD yet.

For example, searching in Google for the term “why i am having the urge to wash hand” already retrieves few websites that already relates the washing of hand symptom with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. That is how I self diagnosed my self of having OCD only recently after 30 years of suffering. I was having a terrible feeling of being so useless, mean and evil for all the unwanted thoughts that comes automatically to my mind. My search over the internet for automatic negative thoughts slowly brings OCD into the equation and helps me understand my conditions well.

After discovering what I am going through is just a mental disorder, I felt better and understood that it has nothing to do with my character; it was just a mental health problem that I am born with just like any other diseases on this world.
