Many are unaware that the Creator has celebration days. These are specific days that he uses to demonstrate to people what his plan is. The plan of God is outlined within the celebration days of God. Without them life does not make complete sense and appears to be void of meaning. All of the celebration days of God are listed in the twenty-third chapter of Leviticus. The animal sacrifices are no longer done, of course, because the sacrifice of Christ causes the animal sacrifices to be totally unnecessary. Christ, our Passover, is sacrificed for us (1 Corinthians 5:7). Therefore there is no need to sacrifice bulls, goats, lambs or doves.
One of the pivotal celebration feasts of God is the feast of tabernacles, also known as the feast of booths or the feast of in gathering. Zechariah the prophet had this to write about a time in the future, just ahead of us, a few years:
“…it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, and to observe the feast of tabernacles” (Zechariah 14:16). This feast is so important to God, there is the warning of a penalty for those who do not keep it. “And it shall be that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth, unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the Lord of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain” (Zechariah 14:17). Is this only for the Jews or only for Israel? No. It is for “…all the families of the earth…”, everyone on this planet.
Of course, there are many who desire to celebrate their own days and try to pretend that it is of God. In this day and age, inventing one’s own religion is an every day event. It is also the way of Cain (Jude 1:11). Life is a series of choices. We can choose to do things God’s way or we can choose to follow the inventions of men. It is up to each of us individually to make a choice. We need to choose wisely.
“You shall observe the feast of tabernacles seven days, after you have gathered in your corn and your wine” (Deuteronomy 16:13). What is this about wine? Will people be drinking wine? Yes, they will. The feast will include wine. When all else fails, believe your Bible.
“And you shall rejoice in your feast…” (Deuteronomy 16:14). In this time of great stress and economic hardship, these are seven days for you to join others and rejoice. Joy is one of the optimal results of the feast of tabernacles.
Should we invent our own religion or be willing to conform to what men have invented? God spells out in detail which celebration days he approves of. He is explicit. We do not have to guess. It's all right there in the handbook of life, the Bible, the Old and New Testaments.
“You shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God…” (Deuteronomy 4:2). You should keep the commandments of the Lord your God.
“Here exists the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus” (Revelation 14:12). Keeping the commandments of God is the wave of the future. Disobedience to God is behavior that has no future. The dragon, in prophecy, is symbolic of Satan, whose primary mission is to block people from obeying God.
“…the dragon was wroth with the woman and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ” (Revelation 12:17). “…worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy” (Revelation 19:10).
“And, if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book” (Revelation 22:19).
