Drug Detox, A Necessary Expense In These Times
Posted by Mary Jane
Monday, Feb. 1st 2010As the economy begins to shift and individuals begin losing their careers issues such as necessary and unnecessary expenses come into play. One unnecessary expense is prescription medications. People are putting their hard earned money towards medications they have to take for their entire life. Prescriptions are being passed out like candy to help the “sick” while the pharm companies continue to come up with stronger medications.
Many of these medications are extremely addictive, and their adverse side effects are often worse than what they treat. Individuals may find themselves on several different medications simply to balance out the side effects of the first medication. It’s attempting to cover up one problem by covering up another problem. Finding the real core issue that is causing the “illness” is the only true way to move forward in life.
For instance if someone is suffering from depression, the core issue needs to be resolved. This, of course is difficult without the proper direction and help, but it can be done if one does their research to find the right company for the job. The medication is only a temporary and costly solution that is doing damage to both the mind and body. It’s money being spent on a product that doesn’t really need to be taken. The core issue needs to be handled and addressed.
Let’s say someone is having difficulty focusing in school. As of now the solution is diagnosing the individual with ADD or ADHD and putting them on medication to help them focus. The only problem is there are many different ways an individual learns. Perhaps the student is a visual learner or a hand’s on learner and is having difficulty focusing because his way of learning is not being addressed. If the student was able to learn the way he wanted the issue would no longer be present.
Once one has been on medications for awhile coming off can be a very trying task indeed. Once again seeking the proper treatment to successfully come off the medication as well as learn the tools and life skills needed to stay away from the medication is essential. There are detox centers one can go to where they may spend a few days weaning off the medications but in the end they may find themselves right back on them simply because their core issues were not handled or resolved. Coming off the medication is one issue, finding and handling the issues in life that had one turn to the medications in the beginning is another.
Do your research and find a program that handles both the successful treatment of coming off medications as well as a program that focuses on helping the client address life issues to move forward in life. A program that helps out with life skills but not with helping the client safely come off medications may not be helpful or vice versa.
This may seem to be a big cost up front but the return on investment cannot be measured. Not only will money be saved on prescription medications but a life will also be returned to the individual.
There is always more one can learn about alternative mental health and orthomolecular nutrition
